The Challenge to Change software is split into 2 distinct systems: one for schools and one for Homes, Groups, Businesses and everyone else. This is because schools are vastly different to houses and businesses. As a result there are distinct features in the schools system.

The online schools Challenge to Change system has been developed to allow students to gain access to the system in a read only format. The teacher/administrator has control over whether the students have ‘write’ access to create and modify records

It provides more of an education base for teachers to work with.

The Challenge To Change is a program that consists of:

READY - staff/students learn about climate change and what can be done about it

SET - students conduct an energy audit and set a school greenhouse reduction target

GO! - students strive to meet their emission reduction targets

SO? - students celebrate their successes and develop plans for their schools to become carbon neutral

C2C involves reducing direct greenhouse emissions electricity only. The total emissions of a school would also include gas and transport as well as indirect greenhouse emissions that result from its purchase of goods and services. However, electricity makes up a major part of a school's greenhouse footprint.
